1993 World Champion Sam Ermolenko is appointed Birmingham Brummies Team Manager

The BIRMINGHAM Brummies have appointed 1993 World Champion Sam Ermolenko as their brand new team manager.

The American comes on board for the Curtis Sport Brummies’ step up into the Sports Insure Premiership and replaces Stewart Dickson who will remain with Leicester in the top division.

Ermolenko, who enjoyed a glittering racing career which lasted for over two decades, has previous backroom management experience with Reading and has also overseen a number of Wolverhampton meetings in recent years.

In addition, also joining Birmingham as Assistant Team Manager is Chris Adams – the son of hugely successful Wolves boss Peter.

Both Ermolenko and Adams will work closely with Laurence Rogers who is staying with the club as Director of Speedway and General Manager.

CEO Nigel Tolley said: “When we announced that we were stepping up into the Premiership, I told everyone how seriously we would be taking this move.

In my eyes, the Team Manager’s role is just as important as the seven riders and the fact we’ve been able to secure a deal with someone like ‘Sudden’ Sam Ermolenko is a really big piece of news.

“Sam is someone who is very well respected due to what he brought to the sport as a rider and what he achieved throughout his career and in various guises he has remained heavily involved with Speedway ever since.

“I feel he can bring a lot to the Team Manager’s position and while I’m sure there’s things he’ll learn on the job in the early stages, Sam’s involvement at Birmingham could reap many rewards both on and off the track.

“As for Chris, he’s someone I got talking to and his knowledge and expertise really did impress me.“
