PLYMOUTH promoter Mark Phillips has postponed the Gladiators’ opening two home meetings of the season.
Extensive work has taken place on the Coliseum track over the winter but unprecedented rainfall totals in recent weeks have hampered efforts to put the circuit into fully raceable condition.
Consequently, the BSN Series matches against Poole this Saturday (March 30) and Oxford on April 6 are to be re-scheduled.
Phillips said: “The track is currently spongy and needs sunshine to bake the clay/shale.
“This weekend we will be taking off the surface on bends two and three and relaying with Type 1 aggregate to gain a solid base, but we still need three days of sunshine to dry the top layers.
“Due to the forecasts I cannot envisage any this week or next week in Plymouth, so unfortunately I need to postpone the meetings against Poole and Oxford.”
