Polish star Patryk Dudek makes his second FIM Speedway Grand Prix appearance of the season when he lines up as 2024 DeWalt FIM Speedway GP of Poland – Torun wild card on Saturday, September 28.
Dudek dons the No.16 race jacket for the Speedway GP season finale at the Marian Rose Motoarena, where he races for host club Torun in the PGE Ekstraliga.
The former world No.2 enjoyed an impressive weekend, finishing fifth as a wild card in Saturday’s DeWalt FIM Speedway GP of Poland – Wroclaw, scoring 12 championship points. He then blazed to a sensational 17 points for Torun in a PGE Ekstraliga play-off quarter final away to Gorzow on Sunday to fire his side into the PGE Ekstraliga play-off semis.
These results follow his second place in the three-round Polish Championship series, in which he finished just three points behind winner Maciej Janowski and a point ahead of four-time Speedway GP world champion Bartosz Zmarzlik, who was third.
With Janowski also lining up in Torun, replacing the injured British star Tai Woffinden, who is recovering from a broken elbow, four of the top six riders in the Polish Championship race in the Speedway GP finale, with fourth-placed Dominik Kubera and sixth-placed Szymon Wozniak also in action.
Dudek reached the final at the 2023 DeWalt FIM Torun Speedway GP, taking fourth place. It was not enough to keep him in the SGP series after he finished 10th in the Speedway GP World Championship standings.
But Dudek hopes to bounce back at the first attempt this season and lines up at the FIM SGP Challenge in Pardubice, Czech Republic on October 4, where the top four riders secure Speedway GP qualification for 2025.
The DeWalt FIM Torun Speedway GP line-up is completed by track reserves Oskar Paluch and Krzysztof Lewandowski, who wear the No.17 and No.18 race jackets respectively.
Meanwhile, former SGP3 bronze medallist Antoni Kawczynski has been named as wild card for the 2024 DeWalt FIM SGP2 of Poland – Torun on Friday, September 27. Kawczynski lines up in the No.16 race jacket for the 2024 FIM Speedway Under-21 World Championship finale on his Polish home track, where he races for Torun in the PGE Ekstraliga and Under-24 Ekstraliga.
Kawczynski is no stranger to the FIM Speedway stage. He finished third in the 2022 FIM SGP3 Final – the FIM Speedway Youth World Championship event at Wroclaw’s Olympic Stadium, joining Danish duo Mikkel Andersen and Villads Nagel on the podium.
With the Pole joining the line-up for the last of the three-round under-21 series, it means the top three riders in the 2022 SGP3 250cc under-16 competition will all be in action at the Marian Rose Motoarena as they climb the FIM Speedway pyramid, working towards their dream of competing in Speedway GP.
The DeWalt FIM SGP2 of Poland – Torun line-up is completed by track reserves Paluch and Lewandowski, who will also be in the No.17 and No.18 race jackets on the Friday night.
Tickets for both nights of the 2024 FIM Speedway final weekend in Torun are still available online.
