Lasse Fredriksen signs for the Berwick Bandits

Berwick Bandits continue to assemble a cosmopolitan side for 2026, Norwegian Lasse Fredriksen joining Dane Peter Kildemand, Swede Victor Palovaara and Australian Nick Morris in their confirmed starting line-up.

The 28-year-old switches to Northumberland having spent 2025 at Plymouth following three years as an Edinburgh Monarch.

Twice national champion, Fredriksen has been a regular in Norway’s Speedway of Nations team – partnering Mattias Pollestad in this year’s running at Torun, Poland – and has also competed in the GP Challenge and SEC qualifiers.

Fredriksen was initially named in the Edinburgh side for the Covid ruined 2020 season and, after suffering visa issues the following year, finally made it on-track in Britain in 2022.

Among his European success was an Allsvenskan title with Valsarna alongside another 2026 Bandit Palovaara in 2022.

Last season he continued to progress his average in Plymouth colours despite needing surgery on a knuckle damaged in the win over Poole at The Coliseum.

That injury meant he was missing when the Gladiators visited Shielfield Park but he has fond memories of the big Borders’ track.

Guesting for the injured Bastian Borke in 2024 Fredriksen racked up 6+2 against Oxford – a meeting which ended in a draw before Drew Kemp and Lewi Kerr secured a dramatic Super Heat triumph.

Team manager Stewart Dickson said: “Lasse is an experienced rider and will slot comfortably into our engine room.

“His knowledge of the smaller tracks will also hold him in good stead away from Shielfield Park.”
