FOLLOWING Saturday’s successful British Under-19 Final at Workington there was a round for the 250cc, 125cc and Support classes of the British Youth Championship.
For the 250cc class this was Round 5, and ten riders took part in what was their penultimate round of the season.
Series leader Casper Kluczniak was looking to extend his lead knowing that there were a number of riders within striking distance of him with two rounds to go.
Seth Norman, who has not had the best of luck in 2025, headed the scorers going into the Final with a score of 10 points, which included a fantastic race win over Archie Rolph in his second heat.
Oli Bovingdon, who currently lies second in the series scores, tied with Rolph on nine points to get second and third pick in the Final respectively, and Kluczniak just did enough to get the all-important place in the Final ahead of Demi Blu Harris, who was unlucky not to make the Final having led Kluczniak in the heats only to fall on the last bend gifting Kluczniak three points and losing three points herself.
The Final itself was breathtaking, with all four riders chasing the lead and just a whisker between them for three laps before Kluczniak overslid going into bend one on the last lap when in third position, and Norman did fantastically to lay the bike down to avoid a bigger crash when he was right on Kluczniak’s back wheel.
Bovingdon went on to to claim his second win of the season with Rolph in second, and Norman was awarded third place with Kluczniak being disqualified for his fall.
For both the 125cc and Support classes this would be their last rounds of 2025.
In the 125cc class Lewis Hague completed a clean sweep for 2025, winning all six rounds, and was crowned British 125cc Champion.
Fraser Buckle, in his first season of racing speedway, claimed the silver medal, and the race for bronze was won by eight-year-old Oscar Berwick who had his best result of 2025 by claiming second on the day which meant he pipped both Charlie Fletcher and Charlie Luckman for the bronze medal.
The Support class was just as exciting as Douglas Marshall and Callum Hague went into the final round level on points at the top of the scorechart. Marshall made no mistake and won all his heats including the Final, which meant that in his first season of racing speedway he would win the Support class.
Marshall’s older sister Ella made another Final and after a great scrap with Seb Kelly not only claimed third on the day but was third overall in the series.
The Final 250cc Round will take place at Leicester on Sunday October 19 after their National Development League fixture against Belle Vue.
