BRITISH Speedway Promoters’ Ltd and Speedway Ekstraliga (Poland) have concluded an arrangement which will ease ROWE Motor Oil Premiership fixture planning for next season.
Original plans for Metalkas 2. Esktraliga – the second tier of racing in Poland – were that from the 2025 season onwards, two televised matches in each round were to take place on Thursdays, with the other two on Sundays.
Agreement has been reached to reduce this to one on Thursdays, with one now on Saturdays and two on Sundays, with the possibility in certain rounds that two matches will take place on Saturdays, with none on Thursdays.
This means that in the regular Metalkas 2. Ekstraliga league season, a maximum of 14 matches will take place on Thursdays, which is likely to mean that the riders involved are required in Poland on up to three Thursdays during the season.
Given that not all UK teams for 2025 are declared at this stage, it seems likely that around eight to ten riders will potentially be competing in both Metalkas 2. Ekstraliga and the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership.
We will now be working closely with Poland to ensure there are no clashes on the initial fixture list.
Should there be any subsequent Thursday clashes, Poland would take priority with the Premiership club receiving a facility for the relevant rider(s).
“We thank all parties for their co-operation.”
