Jake Allen back with the Scunthorpe Scorpions in 2024!

JAKE ALLEN – a crowd favourite since he joined Scunthorpe Scorpions in mid-2017 – will again line-up for the North Lincolnshire club in 2024.

The 28-year-old Australian star joins skipper Simon Lambert and youngster Luke Harrison as confirmed starters for next year. His starting Green Sheet average is 7.16.

Allen collected the league and cup double for Somerset in his first season of British Speedway in 2016. He signed for Scunthorpe in late 2017 and also rode for Scorpions in 2018 and 2019 and quickly developed into one of the most popular riders for the club.

He travelled over to Britain for the 2020 season – aborted due to Covid – and decided he could not afford to make another potentially wasted journey from Australia the following year. By the time it was clear that the 2021 season would take place and he had a change of mind, Scunthorpe had already brought in Jake’s friend Josh Macdonald in his place and Jake went to Redcar instead.

Allen returned to the Eddie Wright Raceway in 2022 to race for the Attis Insurance Scorpions and will spend a third successive season for the club in 2024.

Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: “Jake has been a very reliable heat-leader for our club and I fully expect him to hold down that position again with Scorpions in 2024.

“He’s very much become a recognisable part of Scunthorpe Speedway and he’s built up a good rapport with our supporters. Jake is an intelligent rider and he can score points anywhere.

“He will be a key part of what I’m convinced is another Scunthorpe team that can push for silverware, following our victory in the Cup in 2023.”

Scunthorpe Scorpions 2024 confirmed starters:
Jake Allen 7.16
Simon Lambert 5.87
Luke Harrison 2.00

* THE draw for the 2024 Knockout Cup has been made. Cup holders Scunthorpe will face Plymouth in the first round, as they look to defend the silverware they won in 2023 after defeating Poole Pirates in the final.
