Kurtz claws back Australian Speedway Championship momentum with victory at Mildura

A new winner of the Australian Senior Solo Championship has graced the top step of the podium in 2024, with Brady Kurtz snatching the round four win at Mildura on Thursday, January 11.

Despite finishing tied on points with second-placed Max Fricke, Kurtz managed to grab the overall honours following his victory in the final with Rohan Tungate winding up third. Jack Holder also contested the final, but was not a classified finisher.

The eight riders that progressed through to the semi-finals were separated by 5pts following the heat races, with the riders eliminated from the semi-final encounters including the likes of Sam Masters, Ben Cook, Jaimon Lidsey and wildcard Justin Sedgmen.

With one round remaining in this year’s edition of the championship, Fricke remains the leader on 59 pts ahead of Tungate (54), Jack Holder, Jaimon Lidsey (tied on 48) and Kurtz rounding out the top five.

The final round of the 2024 Australian Senior Solo Speedway Championship will be held in Gillman (SA) on January 13.
