Kye Thomson out for rest of the season as Edinburgh Monarchs hit with another injury blow!

The Stellar Monarchs’ fortunes have not been improved by the news that now Kye Thomson has joined Justin Sedgmen on the season-ending injury list. Kye was riding in the Swedish Allsvenskan League match for Valsarna against Ornarna on Monday when the accident happened.

Kye said “I’ve shattered one of the bones in my hand and I’ve broken my scaphoid, which is not good. The scaphoid is the real long-healing bone, it takes 10-12 weeks to heal. It’s all on the left hand side. I’ve got to give the X-Rays to the Hospital here to see if I need an operation on the other bone.”

Explaining what happened he added “A rider wouldn’t accept that I was coming up the inside of me, and he just kept turning and leaning on me until our bikes got tangled. I got thrown over, the other guy crashed but was uninjured, a bit of an injury-prone guy I’ve heard, crashes a lot. I didn’t know the guy.

“I couldn’t have tried to avoid him any more, I was tryi ng to stay off him but he just kept turning. I’m gutted that I’ve finished for the season, I’ll be at the track on Friday.”

The very difficult process of looking for guests on a busy night in the Championship is ongoing of course for the two remaining home fixtures, Poole this Friday and Glasgow on Friday 6th September.
