Redcar Bears suffer blow with injury to skipper Charles Wright

The Redcar Bears have been dealt a significant setback following an injury to skipper Charles Wright during their Tyne/Tees Trophy clash with Newcastle at the ECCO Arena.

Wright was involved in a crash on the opening bend of Heat 15, bringing a premature end to the meeting. With Newcastle already holding a commanding lead, the fixture was subsequently abandoned.

The experienced No.1 was taken to hospital following the incident and has since been discharged, but the damage has proven serious. Redcar have confirmed that Wright sustained a dislocated and fractured shoulder, an injury that is expected to keep him out of action for an extended period.

The loss of their captain is a major concern for the Bears, with Wright playing a key role in both scoring and leadership within the side. His absence will now force Redcar to look at potential cover options as they prepare for the upcoming fixtures.

More updates on Wright’s recovery timeline are expected in due course, but in the meantime, Redcar face a challenging period without one of their most influential riders.
