Wightlink Warriors Present Winter Track Spectacular

Fans of two wheeled track sport missing the buzz of close quarter action need look no further than the Smallbrook Stadium in Ryde next Saturday (16 December) as the Island’s speedway venue plays host to a winter spectacular featuring speedway, grasstrack GT140 and Flat Track racing.

Starting at 11.00 am, this training meeting is expected to see over 50 riders compete in more than 40 races across the three disciplines and will run well into the afternoon as qualification for the various Finals should bring the top racers head-to-head is an exciting climax to the day. Wightlink Warrior Arran Butcher will head the speedway contingent; National Champion Ian Clark leads the GT140 competitors whilst exciting Flat Track Pro Racer Jack Bell will take some stopping in his group.

Warriors’ co-owner Barry Bishop was clearly excited to be promoting a festive feast of track racing as he said,

“Martin Widman (co-owner) and I have received regular approaches over the past couple of years about putting on a winter event and this year, having lost so many of our summer track days, we thought it would be good for the fans if we would give it a try.

Essentially, it’s a training day in a real meeting environment to allow all the riders to test and prepare for 2024 and with the help of Anthony Brown and Adam Hawker from the Flat Track and Grass Track communities respectively we have been able to construct a full day of competitive action in the sincere hope that we will enjoy some favourable weather as we build up to race day.

It’s taken quite a bit of planning, however by offering real value for money via a discounted admission fee of £5.00 we hope that supporters old and new will be able to enjoy a pre-Christmas all action treat”.
