Oxford Spires’ Rohan Tungate sits top of the Australian Championships with three rounds remaining after a near faultless performance at Kurri Kurri on Sunday.
The 33-year-old – who will return to the UK in March to be part of Oxford Speedway’s first season in the Premiership of the club’s new era – dropped just one point from five qualifying rides before the meeting was ended prematurely.
It leaves him three points clear at the top of the championship on 30 points with Max Fricke (27) second and Jaimon Lidsey (23) currently third. Sam Masters was also amongst the points at Kurri Kurri, scoring eight points to leave him in ninth overall with 15 points.
The series continues on Tuesday at Albury-Wodonga in Victoria.
