Three riders from the UK national DTRA Flat Track series will be headed to Florida to take on the fastest Amateur racers in the USA at Cory Texter’s Winter Throwdown on the 12th and 13th January.
The Winter Throwdown, organised by double US champion Cory Texter, is the unofficial pre-season warm up for the AFT national US championship, and the largest single Amateur and Professional race in the US, with over seven hundred entries over two days. These entries include many current professionals and champions from the sport of flat track.
Having had the best season of his race career, Freddie Trott Jr will be leading the UK charge stateside. Pro level rider Freddie’s 2023 DTRA season saw a collection of wins and championship titles across the Thunderbike and Minibike classes, as well as adapting quickly to his new framer in the Pro class.
The second rider heading to Callahan Speedway in Florida will be the DTRA Rookie champion, Rowan Haughey. Rowan took his first ever race wins in 2023 and went on to dominate the Rookie class by the end of the season. Rowan was also pretty handy riding his 650 Royal Enfield in the Twins class.
Rounding off the trio, Rory Milton, will be looking to use the trip to open more doors for UK riders to have an opportunity to ride against the best of the best in the US.

It’s going to be an incredible experience, for sure, and it’ll be fun to race somewhere completely new with some incredible new talent. We’re using this to build some foundations to take riders to the States more regularly. The UK has some incredible riders and we want to showcase them to the biggest names and teams in the paddock.
