STEVE Worrall has been named as Birmingham Brummies new club captain for their 2024 Premiership campaign.
The former Great Britain international was confirmed as skipper at the Curtis Sport Brummies’ pre-season press day at Perry Barr on Monday.
“It’s not a role I’m new to,” Worrall said.
“I’ve experienced it at other clubs before but it’s a new era for Birmingham.
“It’s a big leap moving up into the Premiership and to be a part of it is fabulous.
“But to be selected as captain over the rest of the team is an honour.”
Meanwhile, CEO Nigel Tolley added: “Steve is a true professional in every sense of the word and his knowledge and the insight he gives is very, very impressive.
“He’s very good at engaging his team-mates and he knows how to pull a group together collectively with a very cool and level head.
“On top of that, he’s a very experienced competitor and he’s had some very solid seasons in the top division – and I think he’ll carry that on this year.”
A reminder that Birmingham launch their league programme away at fellow Premiership newcomers Oxford on Thursday (March 14, 7.30).
