Everyone at Workington Speedway is ecstatic at the signing of 23-year-old Australian, Fraser Bowes for the 2025 season.
Bowes, from Adelaide, will make his UK debut with the GT Tyres Comets for the upcoming 2025 season and comes with plenty of international experience on the continent.
In 2022 he rode for Lublin in the Polish U24 Ekstraliga but also has experience in Sweden riding for Indianerna and Solkatterna – as well as in Germany for Wittstock. Fraser was also selected to represent his nation in the FIM Speedway of Nations 2 (U21) in the 2022 SON.
He is the son of Shane Bowes, where fans of a certain age will know his father most notably rode for Glasgow in the late 80’s and early 90’s.
In November 2023 he was crowned Victorian Speedway Champion which has previously been won by 2024 Comet Troy Batchelor, Jack Holder and Sam Masters making for an already impressive and developing CV. It certainly caught the attention of the GT Tyres Comets promotion as Andrew Bain explains:
“From what we have seen of Fraser so far he could really be something special. He was really eager to join us this year after seeing and hearing about our track and what we have achieved.”
“Also I think seeing the highly successful UK debut’s of his fellow Australian Tate [Zischke] and Antti [Vuolas] last season, has really motivated him to join us and British Speedway for 2025.”
“Both us and Fraser think Northside will be the best track for him to develop his career going forward and from a club perspective it’s great to continue building on our asset base from last season.”
Fraser will join Tate Zischke, Vinnie Foord, Antti Vuolas and Jye Etheridge for the 2025 season with an assessed starting average of 5.00.
