The Scunthorpe Scorpions have announced the return of local teenager Luke Harrison – and the current British Under-19 Champion joins No 1 Josh Pickering, Connor Mountain and Ryan Ingram as confirmed starters for the 2026 season.
18-year-old Harrison, who is currently racing in Australia, will start his third year as a Scorpion, and the club is hoping he keeps his upward progression in the sport. Team manager David Howe thinks Luke could be a pivotal rider in the team.
Howe said: “I’ve not hidden the fact that my main aim is to win at home next year. After that, it is to try and get bonus points and maybe a few away wins, but winning at home is a must. Luke, especially at home, gives us that middle-order strength.
“He is still learning and improving away, but at home, he is a third heat leader, and the partnership between him and Connor will be very important. It’s where I’ll be looking for those big heat advantages.”

Harrison, who won the 2025 British Under-19 Championship at Workington in October, has become a fan favourite, and being a local lad, the club was always going to try and keep him.
Howe continues, “I know we will not have Luke forever. He has made no secret that he doesn’t want to be a one-track rider, and I respect that, but we spoke, and we both feel that I can still help him some more yet.
“Between us, we are working on improving his equipment to the next level, and hopefully, spending some time racing out in Australia, and having to stand on his own two feet, he will be a more rounded rider and ready to take that next step.”
