Manchester To Host Speedway Grand Prix In 2025

BELLE VUE Speedway are proud to announce that the National Speedway Stadium has been confirmed for its first FIM Speedway Grand Prix in 2025.

The Manchester venue will stage a round of the World Championship series next season on June 14.

It’s a great coup for the UK’s premier circuit having hosted the 2016 World Cup, two Speedway of Nations qualifiers in 2018 and 2019 and two Speedway of Nations finals in 2021 and 2024.

It has also been the venue for the last nine British Championship Finals.

The ATPI Aces CEO Mark Lemon is delighted with the acquisition of the latest prestigious event.

He said: “It’s a historical moment for the club, British speedway fans and the city of Manchester.

“Ever since the National Speedway Stadium opened in 2016 it has produced some of the most spectacular racing in the world.

“That has prompted a constant narrative that an SGP round should be held in Manchester.

“From the outset we wanted to make it happen and I’m very pleased that it will come to fruition in our tenth year at the NSS.

“This the SGP round that every fan wanted, in my mind it almost feels like it will be the people’s Grand Prix on the calendar.

“Belle Vue is the most famous and decorated club in the world.

“Its heritage was created by World Champions who have graced the famous Aces colours including Peter Craven, Ove Fundin, Ivan Mauger, Peter Collins and Jason Crump.

“It undoubtedly feels like the natural step for the club to host its first-ever Grand Prix.

“The prospect of the likes of the present day superstars like five-times World Champion Bartosz Zmarzlik, Brits Dan Bewley and Robert Lambert, Freddie Lindgren and Martin Vaculik all battling it out at the NSS will be a mouthwatering spectacle for every speedway fan across the globe.”

The National Speedway Stadium has already hosted huge events and Lemon knows this will be another accolade for the Manchester outfit.

He added: “We are naturally delighted to work closely with Warner Bros. Discovery Sports and Manchester City Council to bring this event to the UK for speedway fans.

“We are very fortunate to have fabulous directors in Tony Rice and Robin Southwell who constantly strive to bring the best to the club and Manchester.

“The task is to now make this the most special occasion we possibly can and it is ready to be one of the outstanding occasions of the 2025 speedway season.”
