The Edinburgh Monarchs have announced Ross Eco Technologies as main team sponsor for the 2026 season.

Ross Eco Technologies are a leading renewable energy contractor specialising in solar PV, ground source heating, and air source heating, as well as underfloor heating installation and plumbing services.

Company boss Fraser Ross has been serving as a leading plumbing and heating contractor since 1995, and installed his first ground source heat pump in 2007 which is still going strong today.

Fraser is a more recent convert to speedway, having started following the sport four years ago, and is delighted to become main sponsor of the Monarchs for 2026, “We are absolutely honoured to be main team sponsor. We were introduced to the sport through Kye Thomson maybe four years ago and since then we have been hooked.

“It was amazing when we started to tell people about the sport how many of them said they used to come along. We are always trying to bring a few new people along to show them how great it is.

“When our name was drawn out to be main sponsor we were absolutely thrilled. We genuinely hope the team progress and do well this season. It is a strong looking team and we will be backing them all the way!”

Monarchs Co-Promoter Alex Harkess is delighted to welcome Ross Eco Technologies on board, “The support of our sponsors is tremendous and it is a great pleasure to welcome Fraser and Ross Eco Technologies as our main sponsor this season.

“It will be a new adventure for them which we hope they enjoy thoroughly. We will proudly wear their name front and centre on our race suits this season.

“I must also thank all of our new Club Sponsors that took up the opportunity to enter the draw to become main sponsor. The enthusiasm shown by all eight businesses demonstrates the strength of the Monarchs network and the value of community partnership.

“All of your support is vital and I look forward to seeing you at Armadale this season.”

The 2026 Edinburgh Monarchs team is now complete with a huge welcome back to fan favourite captain Paco Castagna.

Castagna returns for his fifth year with the club desperate for success after missing out on the semi final second leg last season through injury, a now fit Castagna saying, “We have many things to achieve. I think the team is strong and I think we played it perfectly with team building and the new rules.

“We have Dan at number one to start the season and everyone can see what he can do both at Armadale and away and he will be a great addition and I really feel we can go better than we did last year.

“Jordy has done most of a season now as well and that can only help him and in having Justin, Kye and I back we all know what is needed, we will bring Mitchell into the team as well and he gives us a good balance.

“Unfortunately we had to let Victor go but that is the rules and as I said I think we are very strong.

“Looking around the league I think everyone is strong though so it will be a great season for the fans as all teams look good, I think the playoffs are the absolute minimum we can achieve but I think with this team we can go further than last season and I am super hungry for glory.”

On a personal front a deal in Landshut has already been announced and with both the SEC and SGP challenges taking place in Italy a big year awaits for the soon to be 32 year-old as he looks for personal as well as team success, “The main part of the speedway season is the bit that most people don’t see, the booking flights and getting your bikes and all that in order and I feel I have never been in a better position for that.

“The team and people I have around me are the best they have ever been and that means I can focus more on riding and enjoying riding and when you are relaxed and happy that is when the best comes out of you.

“Poland can be ruthless and I don’t know what will happen yet with wildcards or qualifying for the SEC and SGP challenges and things like that but I am putting myself in the best position I can.

“Fitness wise it’s all good, I would say my shoulder is back to as good as it can be and I am happy with it, I will need to keep working on it constantly but that is part of speedway. I have been back on the bike testing and it doesn’t affect my riding at all.

“I still think there is more to come from me. I increased my average last season and felt I was more consistent but I can still score more, I feel like I can become a main heat leader if you know what I mean – a number one or five, someone that is in the big heats.

“I started getting ready for next year in November and I have a few meetings lined up to be announced that means I will be even more ready to go come season start, last season I think my first meeting for about six months was the Scottish Cup against Glasgow – this year that won’t be the case.”

Another sense of pride for Castagna came from having the captain’s armband and the team spirit he was able to put in place. With five of last year’s seven back in place he sees no reason for this not to continue in the new year, “It is one of the reasons I wanted to be back at Edinburgh is the relationships I have built up, don’t get me wrong it can be a tough place to come compared to others with travel and driving to airports down south and things like that.

“The people and the club are great though and coming round on a victory parade at Armadale and seeing the fans cheering and the young fans with their flags and posters there is nothing like it. I try to instil that same passion in the rest of the team and I have a few things planned for this year as well.”

That just leaves the ask for any final message Paco has ahead of 2026 and he is quick to respond, “I am very happy to be back and the biggest reason for that is the fans!

“They all have Edinburgh in their hearts and I do as well, it gave me great pride as captain to be the face of the club if you will when it came to interviews on BSN and things like that. Now I want to be the face of the club by being the one to lift trophies and bring glory back to the club and I think we can do that next year!”

Kye Thomson is set to return for his sixth season in the Blue and Gold as he lines up for the 2026 Edinburgh Monarchs.

The 27 year-old is looking to build on a strong end to this campaign, “Yeah, it is great to be back and I am looking to kick on again next season.

“From about mid season on to the end I felt I did that this year and that has given me a lot of confidence, I was really enjoying my speedway this year and I didn’t want the season to end.

“I really felt we could go all the way and we were perhaps a little unlucky not to, losing Paco for the away leg at Ashfield was a big blow not just on the track but in the pits also. That has just made me want success even more and I think 2026 can be a big year for the club.

“I gained a lot of confidence and experience riding at number five last year. I enjoyed that and it gave me something to ride for knowing I was in the big heats, I actually hope to be back at number five next year and keep that going.”

As the longest consecutively serving Monarch in the 2026 line up, Thomson has seen teammates come and go and the Queenslander feels the club management have gotten it right when looking at the names announced around him so far for 2026, “It is always a shame to lose riders and Victor will be missed that is for sure.

“Michael as well, it was tough for him coming back from so long out with the injury but he was good to have in the pits as well but speedway teams change.

“The team we have I think we can have a great season, bringing in Dan Thompson is a great move and I will be looking to lean on him as well especially when it comes to gating. He was such a consistently strong starter last season so I’ll be asking him for advice on that.

“At the other end we will have a full season of Jordy and it was great when he came in last season, him and his family were great in the pits and he will ha ve learned a lot. I think he will kick on as well.

“It looks a strong team and I can’t wait to get back for the season.”

With Kye’s return, the 2026 Monarchs will once again have a strong Antipodean feel to it with three other Aussies in the ranks. Thomson currently back home in Queensland albeit with a smaller racing schedule ahead than previous years, “I will not be doing too many meetings over the Aussie summer as it is a lot of travelling and the costs add up.

“Doing the Aussie Championships for example would probably cost me around ten thousand dollars not to mention two weeks off work and away from the family so I made the decision this year that I would rather work and then put the money into my equipment for next year rather than on doing the meetings.

“I will be buying a new engine and some other things, I did that last season as well and it helped so I know this is the way to progress.

“I also have a new fitness regime really looking after my training and what I eat and I think that will help as well.

“I will still be on the bike a lot though, I have a track in my back garden so I can pretty much go out whenever I want so I won’t lose my sharpness. I have also booked into a couple of Dwayne Rew’s training schools at Ipswich [Queensland not Suffolk] which is actually very similar to Armadale so I’ll be ready to go when the season comes.”

That just leaves Thomson to give his Christmas message to the Monarchs faithful,

“I hope everyone has a great Christmas with their loved ones and that time goes quick so we are all back at Armadale soon.

“I think 2026 will be a big year and we are all desperate to bring success to the club and fans.”

It is now five down two to go for the 2026 Edinburgh Monarchs with the club delighted to announce Mitch Cluff as the latest addition to the line-up.

Cluff can’t wait for the new season to start, “I am really looking forward to next year, this year obviously was my first in the UK and it was tough at the start.”

The 25 year-old from New South Wales started his British Speedway journey in 2025 with Plymouth before team changes meant he was the victim of the numbers game, “It took me a while to get used to the Plymouth track and then when I was getting comfortable and starting to score more Plymouth made their changes and that was that.

“I learned a lot though and this year I feel I have really good people with me and supporting me so I can always get advice. I have Neil Evitts and also Sam Masters helping me out so I feel a lot more ready for the year ahead and I can’t wait to get started with Edinburgh.”

Masters needs no introduction to the Edinburgh faithful and Cluff has already spoken to the Monarchs legend, “When I was approached by Edinburgh I did call Sam to ask what he thought and he said straight away to go for it, he told me how good the club and track are.

“I will be staying only about 20 minutes away from him so when we all get back to the UK after the Aussie summer I’ll make sure to get as many tips as possible and get those secret lines he knows about from him.”

While relatively inexperienced in the UK having only had that short stint with the Gladiators last season, Cluff does come with a myriad of experience in Europe having spent the three seasons prior with Czestochowa u24 team in Poland with an average of over six showing his ability.

When asked what his goals are for 2026 Cluff is fairly forthright, “It is a solid team that Edinburgh have built, I think it will be strong but my aim is to get out of reserve. If I do that then w e will be really strong as the guys above me are all good riders.

“Obviously for myself and my career overall in the future I want to be a heat leader but first up is just to score as many as I can and try and get out of reserve and keep scoring in the main body. I am not unrealistic though and I know this all won’t happen overnight so I want to do a full season in the UK and keep progressing.”

Cluff adds to the list of Australian born riders to grace the Blue and Gold over the years with fellow countrymen Justin Sedgmen and Jordy Loftus already announced also, this something Cluff feels will help him also, “Having other Aussies around me will be good as well as when you put us together we end up getting on.

“Last season at Plymouth I got on great with Lasse Fredriksen but apart from that it was a little of bit of people doing their own thing.

“From what I have been told it is different at Edinburgh and I am looking forwar d to that and being part of the team.”

Currently enjoying a break in Bali, albeit in their rainy season so not quite sunning it up, Cluff’s preparations for next year are already well under way although he admits to not putting in as busy a schedule as previously to make sure he is as fresh as required come season’s start, “I have a few meetings over the Aussie summer but I am taking it easier than before.

“Last year I did every meeting I could in Australia and after having had the European summer in Poland. I probably did too much and wasn’t as rested as I could have been for the start of the season so I didn’t want to make that mistake again.

“So, I am having some time off just now, just doing gym stuff and things like that to stay fit then I will have a couple of meetings in February to get sharp for coming over to Edinburgh.”

Signing on a 3.00 average Cluff will slot in at reserve alongside Jordy Loftus to start the sea son with the last two signings for the 2026 season anticipated to be announced soon.

The fourth rider announced for Edinburgh Monarchs 2026 campaign is returning 25 year-old Swede Jonatan Grahn who is making his way back to Armadale for another year.

Grahn was an instant hit with the terracing faithful last year finishing the season (and therefore starting 2026) with a 5.30 average including some match winning contributions.

Grahn is quick to say there was only one place he wanted to be in the coming months, “When I started thinking of 2026 my first plan was to be back in the UK and Edinburgh.

“It was my first plan straight from the start so I am happy that is what is happening and I can’t wait to get back and get started again.”

As is always the case for newcomers to British speedway, 2025 had its ups and downs for the Hallsberg-born racer, but this is all experience he thinks will stand him in good stead as he goes into his second year looking to progress further, “In the beginning it was hard as everything was new.

“All the tracks and set-ups and all of that was different but after a few weeks and the experience of riding in the UK I started to get used to it and it started to come together.

“I would say maybe that I found it easier at some of the away tracks last season for some reason but by the end of the season I was happy with how I was riding Armadale as well.

“That is one of my main aims for next year – to get even better at Armadale and now I have the experience both home and away I think I can improve my scores everywhere.”

Adding to this confidence is the familiarity that will come with three of the four announced so far also being part of the 2025 septet, “In the beginning I only really knew Victor and it was really good to have him but now I feel like I know everyone at the club and the fans as well.

“It will make it easier as although Victor is gone I will know what to expect from the start of the season and can just concentrate on that and not where things are and how things work and things like that.

“The team spirit was really good last year and looking at the signings we have announced so far I think it will be the same again.

“It is such a good bunch of riders and mechanics as well we all get on and again that helps on the track when you are having fun on it as well.”

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display:block;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-4991349668748061"

Looking to the year ahead Jonatan is set for another busy year with team spaces lined up at home also, this exactly what the Swedish internationalist is looking for to help him go even further, “I am pretty much settled for 2026 now. I will ride for Indianerna and Solkatterna in Sweden. I will be in a team with Victor again and with Robert Eriksson as manager at Solkatterna so there is a big Monarchs connection there as well.

“It is going to be a good year. I have a busy calendar and that is what I want as I always say a busy speedway rider is a better speedway rider and I want to be riding many meetings, scoring points and having fun.

“My main focus will be on my clubs and scoring well for them then the rest takes care of itself. I have had a good record in the Swedish finals and representing your country is always great but that only comes if you are doing well for your teams.

“As I said I want to race as much as possible so I won’t say no to things like guest bookings and individual meetings and things like that but my main focus is always on scoring for my teams and seeing where that takes me.”

Before all that begins though Grahn is looking forward to small break as the festive season approaches with some time to rest and reflect on a good year, “Christmas is all about family time, my whole family will get together and I think I have about four straight days of things with the family with traditional Swedish food like meatballs and things like that.

“After that it is back to preparing. I am working a regular job over the winter so I have that and I have been out on my endurance bike a lot to keep bike sharp.

“The weather has been typical Scottish weather although I am in Sweden I would say, it has not stopped raining but I am keeping busy and then early in the year I will start putting my bikes together and then pre-season training and things like that will be here soon and it starts again.”

Edinburgh Monarchs team building for 2026 carries on at pace, with the club delighted to announce the return of Justin Sedgmen to the fold for next season.

‘Sedgy’ who returns for what will be a sixth season across three spells with the club feels that 2026 could be a big year for the Blue and Gold after our league dreams ended at the semi final stage last time out.

The Mildura man saying, “I think the way the team was structured in 2025 was a step in the right direction and from what I have been told of the team for next year I think we can do even better.

“Last season we probably only had two meetings where we all clicked together and we were still unlucky to get knocked out in the semi in the last heat at Glasgow.

“That will spur us on even more and I think with the additions to the team we have the right balance to challenge. In saying that we can’t put too much pressure on Dan (Thompson) at number one as it will be hi s first time there and it is different but he has all the ability to cope and the rest of the boys will be there to back him up. I think we have a really solid team”

Adding to Sedgmen’s belief that 2026 can be a banner year is the refreshed feeling the double league winner has after finishing this year healthy compared to the winter prior that was focussed fully on rehab following some heavy knocks to end 2024, “Looking back to the beginning of last season, if I am honest I probably shouldn’t have started the year.

“It was very difficult, I had those big crashes in ’24 then when I tried to ride in Australia I could tell it wasn’t right and that set me back. I also was coming back at number one for the Monarchs and while if you look at my average it didn’t go down by much from the year before it all had an effect.

“I am normally the kind of guy that wants to race every day of the week but it got to the stage where I was actually looking fo r when there were gaps and I could rest. It was probably after I got dropped by Sheffield that I was able to get right.

“It was also about that point of the season where we realised the Monarchs had a right good chance of the playoffs and that spurred me on as well and I think I had my best spell. I was so focussed on getting us to the final but it wasn’t meant to be and that still drives me on for next year.

“I had a month or two off after the season and that was great, I am really looking forward to getting on the bike and I have signed up for every meeting in Aussie that I can over the British winter.

“I’ve done a couple already and I am feeling good so I think it will be a good Aussie season and that will carry into next year for the Monarchs.”

A fit and firing Sedgmen is more than capable of increasing on his 7.34 starting figure as the Monarchs go in search of glory in 2026.

Edinburgh Monarchs are delighted to announce that signing number two for 2026 is a returnee from the 2025 septet as 16 year-old Australian Jordy Loftus commits to another year with the Blue and Gold.

A surprise introduction to the Monarchs half way through 2025, Loftus impressed everyone on his arrival both with his on track endeavours and his, and his family’s, off track attitude and the ease with which they fitted into the club.

Both sides cannot wait to see what next year brings for the Gold Coast born youngster with Loftus himself saying, “I am very excited for the 2026 season.

“It has always been my goal to race professionally so when the opportunity came about last season I jumped at it.

“This year was a steep learning curve, but I feel happy with what I achieved, so going into next season I feel prepared to hit the ground running. I am hungry for more, so my goal is to come back stronger and faster so I c an take it to the next level in 2026.”

Despite only heading to the UK in mid-June it was a busy end of year for Loftus with team spots for the Monarchs, Monarchs Academy, Leicester Fox Clubs, and a willingness to take on any guest or individual meeting bookings that came his way.

Loftus saying all of this knowledge and track time is ready to be put to good use in the coming year, “Adjusting to the higher level of competition and racing against such skilled riders pushed me to improve every match.

“I learned a lot about team race strategy, bike setup, mental preparation and of course the different tracks and conditions.

“I was really proud of how far I developed by the end of the season, but I have been reflecting, watching my races and I’ve already set myself goals for 2026. Starts are everything so I really want to improve these and add to my point scoring.”

With the start of next season still five months or so away Loftus and family are back home in Australia enjoying some summer sun, however there is no resting on his laurels as Jordy preps for another big year ahead, “I’ll be trying to get as much track time in Australia as I can throughout the speedway season over here, I’ll keep training and spending time in the workshop getting the bikes ready.

“My time off track will be spent working to get some savings behind me before I head back over and also helping out around the family property. It is also time to catch up with friends and family, enjoy the beach and get out on the mountain bike tracks near where I live. I am not the sort to sit about so I’ll be keeping myself busy.”

Lastly, Loftus just wanted to pass on the following message to the Monarchs faithful, “I want to thank all the Monarchs fans for welcoming me in 2025. It made a huge difference having your support especially being only 16 and in a new country. It definitely helped me settle in quickly and I felt part of the team and the club straight away.

“I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas when it comes, and I can’t wait to see you all again in the new year.”

Edinburgh have made a major step forward in their team building for the 2026 season by signing one of the UK’s top prospects and certainly one of the successes of the season just past, Dan Thompson.

Monarchs’ fans felt that their team had a decent season in 2025 but the obvious problem was that while the side was solid throughout, there was a lack of punch in the big heats towards the end of the matches. It wasn’t anyone’s fault but the signing of 21 year old Dan on an average of 8.71 should give them a fighting chance of sorting that out!

Dan rode three times at Armadale last season and won 12 of his 14 races, totalling 38+1 out of a possible 42. The young man, British Under 19 Champion in 2023, is happy to be moving across Scotland and says:

“I’m really pleased to be coming to Edinburgh, it’s a track I’ve done really well on this year. I think I only dropped a couple of points on my visits. It’s not somewhere I’ve always been strong at but I’ve gradually improved and I think I can really make a good home advantage of it. It’s somewhere I enjoy coming to and it does seem like a really good club from what I’ve been told.

“Things went well for me this year, I moved forward again, got a league title with Ipswich and obviously just missed out with Glasgow. That’s the way it goes sometimes, it was unfortunate but we put everything into it. I’ll have another chance at it in the Championship next year with Edinburgh!

“Edinburgh were unlucky not to be in the final themselves and from what I’ve heard of the team for next season I think we can go all the way.”

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display:block;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-4991349668748061"
data-ad-slot="6376928783"
data-ad-format="auto"></ins>

On his average he is sure to be number one in the side at the start of the season but that ties in with Dan’s wish to move forward each year.

“It doesn’t really bother me where I ride in the team, other riders might focus more on that than I do. It’s only a number on your back and if you want to be the best in the sport you’ve got to be racing the best guys and I think I am slowly getting to that stage. My average suggests so anyway. I’ll just take the challenge on and see how it goes!”

He will be aiming to move forward on all fronts. “I’ve signed contracts in Poland and working on a few other bits and bobs. Each year doing a bit better than the last year, slowly moving forward. Moving to the number one position in the Championship, into the main body of the team in the Premiership. A few more challenges, I don’t want to run before I can walk sort of thing.

“Last year I won the semi to get into the British Final, I put myself about in the final but Belle Vue’s a tough place to go. There were a few big names in that. I’ll be trying to push on in that competition this year.”

Dan has no doubts about fitting in to the Edinburgh side. “I say hello when we meet and I get on well with everyone to be honest. I am a people person and we’ll be working hard from the first day I arrive in Edinburgh. Travelling to Edinburgh won’t bother me on the travel side, I’ve had a year of the Scottish trips already.”

Everyone at Edinburgh will look forward to welcoming a rider they already admire greatly.

The Edinburgh Stellar Monarchs are delighted to welcome 16 year-old newcomer Jordy Loftus to the team.

The Gold Coast born racer is thrilled to join the Monarchs, Jordy said, “I’m excited to join the club and meet all the people and race for you guys.

“I know of Justin Sedgmen and Kye Thomson and I’ve got to know Kye more personally over the past year or so. We practise at the same track in Ipswich [Australia].

“I’ve been watching his technique going around the track and getting some tips off him. I’ve watched every single video you have put up from Armadale, it looks amazing.”

Having spent his formative years racing in Australia, Jordy has gained much experience at 250cc level before progressing onto 500cc racing upon his 16th birthday.

Jordy continued, “I’m number two in Australia on the 250s, I rode those until I turned 16 in March when I jumped onto a 500 and since then I’ve been getting better and better on it.

“I rode in SGP3 in 2024, and that went well in the semis when I got fifth. In the final In had a little bit of bad luck the way things went but my final placing was thirteenth.”

Jordy holds a British passport and joins the team at reserve starting at the away match at Oxford on 18th June onwards, replacing Mark Parker.

Stellar Monarchs wish to thank Mark Parker for his committed performances while in the team and all look forward to watching his continued development in the Academy team ahead of racing for Monarchs again in future.

To boost his experience, Jordy Loftus will also line up in the Monarchs Academy team in the National Development League starting this Sunday in the team’s away match at Middlesbrough. Jordy steps in for Kyran Lyden, who remains sidelined through injury. All at the club wish Kyran well in his ongoing recovery.
