Oxford Chargers will have a new title sponsor in 2024 with Berinsfield-based The Real Mini Company pledging its support to the National League club in partnership with SD Timmo Car Sales.
The Real Mini Company Oxford Chargers powered by SD Timmo will take to the track in spring following a sensational second campaign in British Speedway’s third tier which ended with Peter Schroeck’s side scooping top honours.
Owned by speedway enthusiast Daniel Budd, The Real Mini Company specialises in Mini restoration, repair, service and sales with projects spanning across the UK, into Europe and as far as the middle east.
But the firm will swap four wheels for two at Sandy Lane and extend the Budd family’s close association with speedway which stretches back to Daniel’s childhood. In fact, The Real Mini Company’s move completes a full circle with Daniel’s father – Ralph – a former sponsor of rider turned key partner of Oxford Speedway Spencer Timmo in the 1980s.
Daniel explained he saw the value in being at the heart of the club’s third campaign of its new era at a venue only a stone’s throw from the city’s Mini Plant in Cowley.
“We’re all huge speedway fans,” said Daniel. “And we’re fortunate to be in a position where we can support a fantastic club which is serving a great purpose to local people and the community.
“I have fond memories watching speedway as a child during the 1980s and 1990s – and Spencer (Timmo) even lived in our house during his riding days!
“Now, we’re partnering up to back the future of not just Oxford Speedway but the sport in the UK too. We’re all motoring enthusiasts at the Real Mini Company and to give back is something we’re really pleased to do.
“We hope to see plenty of Oxford Speedway fans trackside in the new year!”
Returning to support the Chargers in 2024 for a second year is SD Timmo Car Sales.
Founded in 2002, SD Timmo Car Sales has over 100 used cars for sale at any given time from its sales bases in Sandford, Farmoor and on the Abingdon Road in Oxford.
Spencer Timmo added: “We couldn’t have wished for a better year to begin our partnership with the Oxford Chargers.
“The entire team performed incredibly well last season to lift the title and extending our sponsorship was a no-brainer. Daniel and his family are huge supporters of speedway, to partner up and support the club together is very special – especially given how helpful they were to me during my riding days!”
Oxford Speedway promoter Jamie Courtney added: “We’re so grateful for the support The Real Mini Company and SD Timmo Car Sales are providing to Oxford Speedway next year.
“It’s great to learn Daniel’s family are so passionate about the sport and we look forward to welcoming them trackside in the new year with Spencer and his team who have been great supporters of the club.
“We have big plans for the development of young riders and their support will place both brands at the heart of what we do.”
