THE ROWE Motor Oil Premiership celebrated its FIM World Championship gold medal winners at a hugely successful Media Day at Belle Vue on Wednesday.
The top-fight of the sport in the UK this year includes 14 riders who have triumphed either individually or as part of a national team in FIM competition.
Individual World Champions Tai Woffinden, Chris Holder and Jason Doyle will all be racing regularly in the Premiership this season, along with former U21 winners Emil Sayfutdinov, Piotr Pawlicki, Maciej Janowski, Max Fricke and Jaimon Lidsey.
In all, there are a remarkable 39 gold medals between the riders concerned, and they form part of a league which is now at its highest level in years.
With rising attendances, increased season ticket sales for 2024 and television and streaming figures on an upward curve, the Premiership is well placed to raise the bar again this year.
CEO Phil Morris said: “I think it’s a really strong season, and I think all teams have got merit to be there in the play-offs at the end.
“There’s no teams that really stand out who you think are head and shoulders above, so it should be a good season for everybody.
“It’s great to see some of the guys coming back to speedway in Great Britain, Magic (Janowski), Tai and people like that, and we want to lift the profile of the riders and the sport as a whole, so hopefully we have a great season.”
