Birmingham Brummies CEO Nigel Tolley described himself as an unhappy man after what he admits was a result he didn’t see coming at home to King’s Lynn on Monday.
After three weeks away from Perry Barr, the Curtis Sport Brummies returned with a 47-43 defeat at the hands of the Stars as they slipped to the foot of the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership table in the process.
The contest went down to a last heat decider – a race Tolley feels should have been restarted by SCB Referee Mick Bates.
But the Brummies’ chief acknowledges that the overall end result wasn’t good enough and that things need to change.
“I know what a lot of people are going to say, ‘oh dear, they can’t even beat King’s Lynn,” he said.
“I was really hoping we could go away with the bonus point, yet alone the win.
“I was not expecting this result at all and I’m very frustrated.
“I don’t think Heat 15 should’ve gone ahead; there was movement at the tapes, they did gain an advantage from that and I think the red lights should’ve come on.
“There are a lot of things I could say in hindsight though; I’m not a happy man but we shall carry on fighting.
“We always have a debrief after each meeting and I’ve got to think about a lot of things.”
