The KING’S Lynn Stars finally race into home action tonight (Thursday) when they face the Belle Vue Aces in the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership.
The Stars have been the side worst-affected by the weather in the early weeks having only appeared in one meeting, which was a narrow five-point defeat at Leicester.
Manager Rob Lyon is hoping the lack of home track time doesn’t count against his side, with the Stars having enjoyed one of their few highlights of 2023 in a last-heat win over the Aces on their previous visit.
Lyon said: “It’s not been ideal to have the postponements, but we made the right call on both of them, and you can’t change the weather.
“We’ve just got to try and kick off with a positive result on Thursday. I think everyone is looking forward to getting stuck in, and hopefully getting that first win under our belts.
“It will be a tough meeting against Belle Vue, but that will be the case for almost all of them, as we’ve already seen with the results from the meetings which have taken place so far.”
The Aces were impressive in their home win over Leicester on Monday and are now seeking their first away points after going down by 12 points at Ipswich last month.
Captain Brady Kurtz said: “You could argue that we slightly have the upper hand due to the fact that King’s Lynn haven’t had as much track time as we’ve had together in the last few weeks.
“But they have some very strong riders and we don’t doubt that they will be determined to put in a strong performance for their first time out at home.
“We need to match them strike for strike if we want to keep things close, but we know we are quite capable of coming away with a win and that is, of course, the goal.”
