The SD Timmo Car Sales Oxford Cheetahs preparations for the new season are going well and they are looking forward to their first on-track action of the year when they will face a Coventry Bees Select side at Oxford Stadium on Wednesday 01 April, tapes up at 7.30pm.
The Bees will be led by one of their legends, Chris Harris, who was so inspirational in their last years at Elite League level. He will be joined by Leon Flint and Dan Thompson in what is a strong heat leader trio which will certainly put the Cheetahs to the test.
Jody Scott and Luke Harrison will fill out the main team, with Oxford Chargers duo Ashton Vale and Senna Summers completing the septet at reserve.
The team will be managed by Oxford and Coventry legend, the ‘Main Dane’ himself, Hans Nielsen. Nielsen led the Cheetahs to multiple league and cup titles in the 1980’s before moving to Coventry where he completed his UK career.
Oxford Team Manager Peter Schroeck underlined the importance of keeping the Coventry name alive
“The campaign to bring back speedway at Brandon is at a crucial point and this match can only help show the backing they have
“Oxford and Coventry have a great history of competition over the years, and the Coventry select side is one the fans can really get behind”, he concluded.
Details of also been released for the Press and Practice Day on March 25th. Season Ticket holders will be admitted from 12.30pm with open admission available from 6pm.
