GLASGOW are delighted to announce an extensive partnership in the development of young British speedway riders.
Ashfield Stadium will become the host venue for all training schools, and there will also be two rounds of the British Youth Championship held in Glasgow in 2026.
Glasgow will also play an extended role in the progress of young British riders into professionals racing in the Cab Direct Championship.
Club director Peter Facenna said: “We are obviously passionate about British success in the sport.
“Our company Allied Mobility have been the principal sponsor of the Great Britain Speedway Team since 2018. It has been a fabulously successful era for GB since then with two Speedway of Nations gold wins, two silvers and another silver in the World Cup.
“It is a natural progression to further extend our involvement into the grass roots of the British Youth system.
“We are delighted to be able to make Ashfield Stadium the home of Great Britain for training schools and educating young riders.
“This will see the club host all training events plus the addition of two British Youth Championship rounds.
“We now have excellent facilities at the club, it’s available every day of the week and there’s also a training track for youngsters to start out from a very early age.
“We join Great Britain Youth boss Neil Vatcher with the same passion and determination to develop young riders into successful professional riders who can hopefully become World Champions of the future.”
Vatcher also welcomes the backing from Glasgow after overseeing so many young stars come through the ranks over the years including the likes of Robert Lambert, Dan Bewley and Tom Brennan.
He added: “It’s fantastic news for the development of British Youth in speedway.
“The backing is absolutely pivotal to the future success of the sport.
“The Facenna family have always given us outstanding support and for that to be extended is very important.
“We now have a training base at Ashfield Stadium with all the facilities we could wish for, including a small training track and workshops. It’s also available at all times.
“This is an exciting development for the British Youth set-up and we cannot wait to get going in 2026.”
